I just released an update for the free Joomla! template I created back in 2005. Only back then it was still a Mambo template based heavily on Solar Flare by rhuk. Now it's a Joomla! 1.5 template and most of the code has changed. This time I have added a few new options to the template. There may be more added in the future.
Here is what the original graphics artist wrote about this Joomla template:
Let your visitors find tranquility with "The Path Less Traveled". The graphic banner features a country road that few may indeed travel. The cool blue shades of this template create a serene atmosphere.
You must save the Parameters before the template will work correctly. Then you can set it as your default Joomla template if you like.
You may wonder why I spelled "travelled" differently in the release of this template. That is because I'm used to spelling it with 2 L's because I live in Canada. However, the graphics artist lives in the USA so they originally spelled the name with only 1 L. Since I am the one who has to type it all the time I figured I should change it to what I am used to so I don't keep mis-typing it causing problems.

Free Joomla! Template Updated - Vivacious 1.6

I just uploaded an update to one of my free Joomla templates named Vivacious 1.6. This update brings many changes, the biggest update to the template since it was originally released.
If you had tried version 1.5.1 of Vivacious you probably weren't able to install it due to some backward slashes in the XML file. Sorry about that. I am pretty sure I tested it but that was back when I still had windows so maybe it was ok with the backwards slashes. Well it won't happen again because I am running strictly on Linux OpenSuse now and will never go back. Speaking of which, if anyone can test this in IE and find any errors please let me know.
This template is for Joomla 1.5.
Here is a change log I tried to keep.
v1.6 - 23 Feb 2010
- Fixed XML file - slashes were backwards in paths so most would not have been able to install
- removed com_contact and com_user from html folder and some other files
- added blank index.html to css folder
- set width for login module text fields
- added param for alignment
- alignment also contains a liquid option for liquid layout
- many various CSS fixes
- auto collapsing right column
- replaced header image
- added width param
- added param to remove search box
- W3C valid CSS and XHTML
- probably some more stuff I forgot to add here

Professional Joomla! Template Released

Comproleen is a very versatile Joomla! template which supports many collapsing module positions and menus.
This adaptable Joomla! template will stretch out to the full width of the template (780 pixels) when there are no modules published into the left, right, user5 or user6 module positions. These positions make up the left side column.
This is the first Open Source release of Comproleen. This version is purple. There will be several other colors in the very near future so stay tuned!
This Joomla! template is licensed under the GNU/GPL license.
Joomla Template Marketing Gear 1.1

This Joomla template was updated. There are a couple of minor fixes.
These fixes include:
- keep white background in content editing boxes when editing content in the Joomla backend
- keep white background in print window when you click the print button on a Joomla content item.
- keep search fieldset inside the template body
- added space to separate articles apart
- added space to top and bottom of inner body content
- added separator color for polls, news items, links etc.
- made font for author and dates smaller to keep it visually separate

I have created a new and very simple Joomla template for those of you looking for such a thing.
I named it Marketing Gear as it is geared towards marketing. It includes instructions on how to use it. It comes in 6 different colours.
You can use this extremely simple Joomla template for anything you want. It is open source. You can modify it however you like, change the colours, add extra features, etc.
Simply pick a colour and install it from within the Joomla template manager and set it as default.
For an extra bit of spice you can install all of the templates and assign them to different pages of your Joomla site from within the Joomla template manager.

Free Joomla Templates Cortrivenus 2.0

You asked for the features, and we put them in... Well most of them anyway.
With the ease of built in PHP functions and radical manipulation of the former Cortrivenus template I released for pre-Joomla, you now have the power to alter your sites:
-Title and slogan position and colour.
-Alignment; left, center and right.
-Background colour.
-Header image. Supports tiling of header image. Includes two examples.
-Module position points.
With the help of amazing volunteers, we have developed a unique and easy to understand system where you can quickly alter which module positions appear in each section of the template. Sections are lettered and shown in the diagram that comes with the built in help file.
The help file supports languages and uses a language file so it is easy to translate. Please upload translations to the Translation discussion area at our project so people can also download them here and verify them to be included in the next release.

What I have done is take all your requests and compile them into a neat little open source project on the Joomla developer forge. It is the project called Free Joomla! Templates. Currently the #2 most active project because we are constantly working on it day and night so you can enjoy the most user friendly, and adaptable Joomla templates you will find anywhere!
Well, at least that is going to be the end result once we finish building the component to go with them. You must understand the possibilities here...
Now, with only a few clicks, you can modify your template to do whatever you want it to do by changing some options quickly.
There is even a handy help file you can use to reference all the different options you can configure.

This template is named 'Deep Blue Celeste'. Thanks to the only two people who even tried to enter the contest one of which entered it properly. However, due to there being only two entries, both being picked as the name of the template because I like it that way, nobody actually wins, we all win!
I have decided to release this template which is actually the template I am using right here on my site. It is really good to me because I have large things I like showing on the left column but yet has a wide enough space for my blog on the right side.
You can change the header image to anything you like. It is in the images directory called index_04.jpg or something similar. You can change the name of that in the CSS file if you desire or simply replace the index_04.jpg file with your own image.
